Nanotechnology may just be the next best thing in medicine. This is a relatively new area of science offering exciting possibilities. It promises to revolutionize medicine and improve our lives. Think in terms of atoms and molecules (a million times smaller than the length of an ant) now you are down to a Nano-scale and the ability to control and manipulate particles so small to solve problems. Welcome to the world of nanotechnology.
Many diseases and viruses occur at a cellular level, Nano-medicine could be used to prevent and cure them by treating the root of the condition before it spreads throughout the body. The Nano-robots will work alone or in teams and take instructions from a computer host outside the body which will be able to make decisions in seconds.
Patients will drink fluids containing Nano-robots programmed to attack and re-construct cancer cells and other viruses. They will have the ability to transport drugs and antibodies to specific cells of the body and perform surgeries at a precise level leaving no scars and leading to faster recovery. Nano-robots will re-engineer our bodies to become resistant to diseases which could increase our life expectancy. They could also be used to change our physical appearance by performing cosmetic surgery.
One day we might have hundreds of microscopic robots in our bodies reacting to any problem that may occur, sharing information and working as a team to cure illnesses, diseases and healing cuts. With the application of nanotechnology in medicine, it seems like anything is possible.
