The Evolution of Technology

The term evolution means the gradual development of something, arising from a simple to a more complex form. A very common example of this would be how we as humans have developed and evolved over millions of years from primates to what we are now.
In the world we live in, the word evolution has been largely associated with living organisms. Such being reptiles, birds and even plants. The question is could this theory of evolution work when it comes to technology? In my opinion I believe that technology does evolve and will carry on evolving, at a fast rate, for many years to come.
Thomas Alva Edison born in 1847 was an inventor and businessman. He was the first person to invent the first commercially practical light bulb. This light bulb looks very different from the light bulbs that are used to nowadays. This is not surprising as it was developed around the 1880’s and was literally the first of its kind. Thomas Edison’s light bulb was the building block for the development of the many different lights we have now, such as hologynic and LED lights. It all started around the 1880’s and because of Thomas Edison and the constant development of his light bulb idea, we always have light at our disposal.
With technology evolving so fast it has resulted in some elder forms of technology becoming obsolete to our generation. Examples of this would first be the use of vinyl records, to the use of audio cassettes to CD’s. This shows that past technologies have lead the way to the technology of today.
What technology may come in the future is beyond our imagination, all we know is that what we have now is still “small” to what we’ll have then.
